Our Director
Justice Takalani Magayi was born in Meadowlands, Soweto. He attended Raucall High School from 1996 until 2000.
In 2001 he commenced with his studies towards a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree at the then Rand Afrikaans University (later known as University of Johannesburg). He obtained his law degree in 2005.
After completing his degree, he was employed at the University of Johannesburg law clinic as a Legal Assistant, where he consulted with clients, worked on files, drafted pleadings, did research and attended at court to file pleadings and notices. Additionally, he assisted LL.B students in their final year for whom law clinic attendance was compulsory.
This equipped him with the necessary skills needed in successfully managing an office as he was directly responsible for ensuring that the students knew what was expected of them when handling their own matters and interacting with their clients.
In the year 2007 he was employed as a candidate attorney at Legal Aid South Africa, Benoni Local Office, where the main mandate of this role was to attend at court and argue criminal trials as the defense attorney.
On the 15th of June 2009, he was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
From 2009 to 2022 Justice was employed at Legal Aid South Africa, Benoni Local Office as a criminal defense attorney, later a supervisory legal practitioner in the criminal department and finally for a period of three (3) years as a supervisory legal practitioner in the civil section of the local office.
His mandate over the years included training, supervising and guiding the candidate legal practitioners, he also coordinated legal training at the local office and provided individual mentoring and coaching to the legal practitioners and candidate legal practitioners.
Justice oversaw the assessment of the quality of the files and work performed by all legal practitioners daily. He also monitored the case flow management of legal practitioners including judicare practitioners appointed by Legal Aid South Africa including overseeing the provision of legal aid representation in criminal matters and civil matters.
Today, as founder and director of Magayi Attorneys Inc, he brings that same dedication and strategic insight to every client interaction.
